BLOONS TOWER DEFENSE 3 — Review + Tips & Tricks:
Bloons Tower Defense 3 is the classic that turned casual balloon popping into a full-on strategy obsession. You’re placing monkeys and gadgets along eight tracks, fighting through 50 rounds per map before unlocking Freeplay — and if you’re stubborn like me, you can push it all the way to round 150. It’s simple, fast, and way trickier than it looks.
You get a tight roster that actually matters: Dart Monkey, Tack Shooter, Boomerang, Spike-O-Pult, Ice Ball, Cannon, Super Monkey, plus the Monkey Beacon support tower. Road items (Road Spikes, Pineapples, Monkey Glue) are your emergency tools. Upgrades go down two short paths with two tiers each, so every dollar counts.
Bloon behavior is the spice: Leads shrug off sharp stuff, Blacks laugh at explosions, Whites ignore ice, and Ceramics (the brown layer) tank like champs. Then the big guy shows up: the first MOAB rolls in around round 37, splitting into ceramics when it pops. If you’re not ready, it’ll bulldoze your line like a shopping cart with no brakes.
Quick tips from a fellow monkey commander:
• Early game, a Tack Shooter on corners farms cheap pops.
• Pair Ice with a Cannon (or a Super Monkey with Laser/Plasma) to delete frozen bloons.
• Boomerang with Sonic Boom helps against frozen layers and cleans up clumps.
• Drop a Monkey Beacon to boost range/fire rate and, once upgraded to the Monkey Storm Beacon, you unlock the Super Monkey Storm screen-clear — it won’t dent MOABs, but it’s perfect for panic moments.
• Keep Road Spikes near the exit as a last-second seatbelt.
Three difficulties tweak cash and lives, and some maps have multiple routes, so you can’t just copy one build. The fun is tuning a compact setup instead of spamming towers — a couple of well-placed Cannons and a buffed Super Monkey can carry, but only if you respect those immunities and plan your upgrades.
Bottom line: Bloons Tower Defense 3 still slaps — tight economy, meaningful upgrades, and just enough chaos to keep you grinning through “one more round.”
